Does anyone know the location of a house named “Wilston” in Nutfield. It was occupied in the 1920/30s by Frank Sharp (local music teacher, church organist and choirmaster) and his wife Lydia. They were my great grandparents.

Hi Shelley, we are not aware of a house named “Wilston” in Nutfield but I live very near there and as often happens it is sort of familiar. Do you have any photos that may be close to where the house was or a part of the house at all? I did a little digging into the family and can see that one of their daughters married into the Creighton family whose house is still standing on the original family property. It’s on the more western part of Nutfield along Doctors Gully Road. If you have any information around that we may be able to do some more searching and solve the puzzle for you. You can use elliscottage@gmail.com to send anything you may have. cheers Jean

I came across your enquiry about ‘Wilston’ and have been looking into the Sharp family to see if I can make sense of a piece of correspondence dated 1908, possibly from Lydia, passed down from my maternal grandfather.
Do you know if she was also known as ‘Lily’ at any stage?
      Bev
